Pretty Pantries

Welcome to one of our favourite rooms in your home, the pantry. It’s quite simple. We love to cook, we love to organize and we love to create beautiful spaces.

These spaces cannot be ignored any longer, as most of our clients who are doing new build construction will actually work this into their overall floor plan. It is now considered a priority. The beauty is this space can take on many forms and either be something that stands out or some thing that blends with the rest of the home.

Functionality plays the biggest role in this design game. How are you planning on using this space? Do you entertain? Do you have children? Do you need some organization to the chaos? These questions will help you decide what the plan, where. Drawers, cupboards, open, closed, appliances, counter space, the list goes on and on. Hiring a professional designer will definitely help with this, as we’re able to help you maximize every square inch of your pantry space.

This is also the perfect place to have some fun with finishes, including tile, hardware, lighting. And of course, one of MPDs signatures, the baskets and accessories. Getting organized will help you feel like you can tackle any recipe, any hosting duties, and of course any every day excitement when it comes to meal making.

One of our favourite MPD features, is adding in a feature wall. Have fun with displaying your pots, cutting boards, dish towels. The sky is the limit, as long as it represents you and is visually pleasing. We also recommend working with some of the finishes you have, but don’t be afraid to mix metals.

These spaces should be connected to your kitchen in some ways, and going with new neutrals in soft putty tones is the perfect way to do this. Check out our other blog post in putty cabinetry to see more of how we tackle choosing cabinetry colours. Comment below your favourite part of pantry design!
