For Home To Win Season One, we teamed up with Tempurpedic and Leon's to furnish the perfect master bedroom. Working with Mike Holmes Jr., Jo Alcorn and Dave Kenney to complete this oasis brought lots of fabulous design minds together.
Day dreams of ship lap added this gorgeous layered look to the walls, and soft Benjamin Moore whites added a lot of fabulous touches to the cozy walls. Layering white on white with the walls and furniture really allows the soft furnishings on the mattress and sofa, and hardware on the side tables and other metals to do the pops and the talking! It was all about layering neutrals and having fun with central retreat.
The master bedroom is the heart of the home for the home owners, as it's meant to be a retreat that is relaxing, restorative and very, very calming. Starting with a foundation that is the most comfortable is very crucial, and in this case that was our Tempurpedic mattress. You can't go wrong with a good nights sleep! And I think the winner of this home would absolutely agree.
Adding beautiful gold accents kept the modern farm house look of the master bedroom come alive! I recommend mixing your clean, bold neutrals with bold dark woods in your furniture and accessories to really make the space pop. Consider a lot of soft, plush textures throughout - perhaps in your rugs, your throws and of course on your bed with lots and lots of pillows!
Adding pops of greenery is also a fantastic way to make your neutral space come alive. Using fresh cut flowers and greenery is ideal, but if you don't have a green thumb stick to cacti and faux-ferns that require little to no maintenance but will add that perfect pop of colour!
I love having a place to sit in a master bedroom, especially if you have the space! In this case we carved out the sauna and popped in a sofa for a place to throw your clothes, sit down and catch up on some emails or simply to add an extra layer of sophistication to the space with a lovely gallery wall above. This cozy nook from Leon's is a great spot for all of these things and more! If you have the space for a big chair, or a cozy bench at the end of your bed, go for it!
The master bedroom is all about comfort, ease and true elegance. Go for bold, timeless and calming colours!
